Fat Quarter Shop 2024 Woven Hearts Quilt Along

2024 Woven Hearts Quilt Along

A beautiful quilt, a very important cause.

A paper-pieced quilt along, supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Fat Quarter Shop invited me to be a part of this quilt along and I am honored to be a part of those helping other quilters to be a part of this project that can help be a part of the ultimate goal of finding a cure.

The Woven Hearts quilt pattern is free from October 1, 2024 – November 19, 2024, and you are encouraged to donate $15 to the campaign. Fat Quarter Shop will match up to $5,000 of the donations raised.

The final quilt will be 70.5″ x 70.5″, and you can find supplies on Fat Quarter Shop’s Woven Hearts Sew Along Resource page.

Cutting

Since this quilt is made up by using the same block design to create the shape, there were not many variations in the shapes to be cut for the piecing.

With the number of blocks and color variations called for in the pattern, it was just a matter of cutting as many as possible as efficiently as possible.

This meant hundreds of squares and triangles.

I was able to do this using my Accuquilt Fabric Cutter and a combination of strip dies.

First I cut strips, depending on the final size needed, the I placed those strips on the appropriately sized die, horizontally.

Fabric Selection

It’s been a while since I’ve created a quilt using Tula Pink fabric designs, and based on the colors that I chose, these were the perfect combinations of fabrics.

I started with one of my favorite colors, chartreuse and looked for coordinating prints. I also love this peacock teal color that was a part of many of the prints and I chose it as the background fabric.
